Casualties of War…withdraw from Iraq now!

Posted by: Julian Ayrs on: January 6, 2009

As I thumbed through the Los Angeles Times today, the handsome young face of Staff Sgt Jason L. Paton of Poway (CA), stared up at me from the obituary section of the newspaper.
Paton, 25, was among 14 soldiers killed on August 22nd when a Black Hawk helicopter crashed in Multaka, Iraq, North of Baghdad.
At the [...]

I was sipping my organic breakfast tea in Java Detour last night around seven o’clock when a couple of squad cars screeched up out front and two burly sheriffs began to shut-down traffic on Santa Monica Boulevard.
Terrorists on the prowl? A sniper in our midst?
Intrigued, I sauntered outside – at which point – I spied [...]

The Dead Sea Scrolls are our bridge to a period that laid the foundation of Western traditions, beliefs, and practices throughout the past two millennium.
A handful of the priceless scrolls were on exhibit at the San Diego Natural History Museum through December 31st (2008).

Jane Fonda…used naughty “c” word on talk show!

Jane, an acrobat between the sheets?

What’s up with all the bimbo babes, lately?
One week, Natalie Cole was dissin’ Amy Winehouse.
On the heels of that juvenile tirade, Aretha was firing off press snoots alleging disrespect.

Yup!
Ms. Fonda shocked middle America on the “Today” show when she [...]

Lordie, that scrawny little songbird said what?

Either Aretha Franklin is paranoid or she’s under the mistaken impression that all the stars in the firmament orbit around her global figure.
A case in point.
After Beyonce called her duet partner Tina Turner  “the Queen”  on Sunday evening’s Grammy Award Show – the celebrated chanteuse not only threw a hissy [...]

Penelope…Reese Witherspoon resonates on a deeper level!

Well – I dickered about posting on “Penelope” – a release from Summit
On the surface, the idea is offensive.
A baby girl is born with a “pig face” arising from an age-old curse.
In an intriguing scenario, stringent conditions must be met by a descendant of the bloodline before the spell can be lifted.
For the most part, [...]

Through my sources I managed to secure a copy of a damning letter John Conyers – Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee – sent on to the Acting Administrator of the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) requesting information on widespread raids which have gone down in the Los Angeles area since last fall.
The DEA had been targeting [...]

Judge of smut, Alex Kozinski

There are a growing number of news reporters tattling on Judges who have abused their power, engaged in corrupt acts, or – quite simply – have participated in questionable leisure activities after-hours that have brought dishonor to the stature of the Judiciary.
For instance, the LA Times recently wrote an insightful expose [...]
