According to a news flash from the New York Times newspaper late this afternoon, Governor Peterson of New York State has directed all state agencies to revise their policies and regulations to recognize same-sex marriages performed in California, Massachussetts, and Canada.

On the heels of the request, David Nocenti – legal counsel for the Governor’s office – confirmed that in New York State gay couples will now be afforded the same recognition as legally-married straight couples.
